We are in the south of Brazil, in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state next to Argentina and Uruguay. It has a humid subtropical climate, especially in the lowland areas, while the higher areas are subtropical.
There are four clear seasons, and rain falls evenly throughout the year. In winter, temperatures range from 0°C to 10°C, while in summer, they can reach 40°C.

Your final destination is ‘Salgado Filho International Airport’ (POA) in Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. If you are not flying directly from Portugal or South America, you’ll likely arrive from major cities like São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, with a flight time of about 1:30 to Porto Alegre.
Once you arrive, we will pick you up at the airport and take you to São Leopoldo, which is about 35 km away, directly to your homestay. You will stay in a residential area, and your host family will drive you to our office.
You will quickly see that RS is different from other states in Brazil because of its weather, scenery, and customs.
São Leopoldo, our town, was founded by German settlers in 1824 and has approximately 200,000 inhabitants today. It is home to one of the most respectable universities in Brazil, UNISINOS, where TECNOSINOS is located. This Tech Park houses well-known IT companies, automation and engineering, communication and digital convergence enterprises, technologies for health and renewable energy, and environmental technologies organizations.
